“What is a Museum” the new lecture series

Rethinking the role of museums in the age of globalisation and digitalisation; this is the aim of “What is a Museum?”, a series of ten encounters, designed by Christian Greco. The series aims at reflecting on the future of museums and accompanying Museo Egizio on a pathway of physical transformation and innovation, in view of its bicentenary, which will be celebrated in the autumn of 2024.

Ten directors of the world's most prestigious institutional museums will be the protagonists of discussions with the Director of Museo Egizio, aimed at outlining the role and challenges of the future of museums, which are increasingly understood as a sort of laboratory of contemporaneity and not only as places for the reconstruction and preservation of memory. Research, digitisation, education, inclusion, accessibility and care of heritage are the themes that the main international museums will be called upon to discuss in Turin.

Live streaming in the original language will also be available on Museo Egizio’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
