Egyptian Gardens: the Kitchen Garden and the Funerary Garden

Green is once again the protagonist in the Museo Egizio: a new permanent exhibition entitled 'Egyptian Gardens: the Kitchen Garden and the Funerary Garden' can be visited from tomorrow (May 1st - 2024) on the Roof Garden.

New excavations, archaeobotanical studies and pictorial evidence have enabled the reconstruction, in the museum. of an area dedicated to the typical crops of an Egyptian kitchen garden and a funerary garden, symbolising the interaction between life, death and rebirth in ancient Egypt.

What plants were the basis of the ancient Egyptians' diet? And what was grown in a funerary garden? To find out, we look forward to seeing you at the Museo Egizio.
